Yesterday we went to see Caroline. She looks really well, still has reflux, but not too bad. The children and Bessie were with us and we all went in the lift to the restaurant on the ground floor where Caroline had hot chocolate!! (well half a mug).
It felt good just walking with her arm in arm. I just miss her not being around. I also feel very tired and exhausted!!
The senior registrar saw her (with 12 student doctors in tow!) this morning. They were pleased with her progress. He assured her that the reflux will eventually stop. They have removed the staples around her wound and have prescribed some stuff to help with the constipation and bloating, which is a side effect of Morphine!!. They have also reduced her doses of morphine to see how see gets on.
Caroline sounded really good and positive. She is eating a lot more and might be coming home later in this week.
As long as the pain management is OK, home will be ideal as she can get what she wants to eat. As long as I remember to prepare bland stuff ( I don't cook bland!!).
Your thoughts and prayers are having a positive effect. I am seeing improvements every day and together we will see Caroline back to her old self (well minus a stomach).
