Caroline is at home!!
This morning she had her feeding tube removed and got discharged this morning.
I had to curtail my South London driving habits - hard braking & acceleration- and drive very carefully, not just because of Caroline, but the bootfull of morphine I was carrying. (I did not want to attract the attention of the police!).
We will have to continue with a variety of medication and Caroline will be gradually reducing her morphine doses. She will continue to slowly build up her strength.
I know that many of you in London will want to see her, but I would like to ask if you could be a patient and allow her to settle in and establish a daily pattern. She will find too many visitors exhausting. If you want to visit then do ring me up first - of you should turn up on a hope you may find that I will be exercising the ministry of the Innkeeper and showing the stables!!
We are currently OK for meals, but once Caroline's parents leave (at the end of the month) it would be nice to accept the many offers we have. I will post some things that she can and cannot eat.
In the meantime it is great having her back home and I think she feels like she is finally returning to some form of reality.
Thank you all for your prayers and support we still need them on the journey to full recovery. The whole process from diagnosis, treatment and care has been a time of real grace for us, thank you for being part of that grace. We look forward to you traveling with us on the journey to recovery and normality.
