Medical team update

Today we saw Mr.Botha, the surgeon and Rachelle, the dietician.

Rachelle was really happy with Caroline's progress and amazed that she has been able to maintain her weight, since the operation. Although Caroline's meals are very small (roughly the portion size of a toddler) she is eating the right kinds of food and with a good routine. She still has to have a milkshake supplement every day. Rachelle reckons that it could take 6 - 12 months before things stabilise and Caroline will begin to put on weight.

Mr. Botha listened to our concerns and said that these were normal for someone who has just had a major operation. He examined Caroline and told us the the scar will eventually dull down to a white scar (as opposed to a bright red scar at the moment). He seemed to be pleased with Caroline's progress and we will have another appointment with him in 3 months time.

Rachelle has given us her contact number should we have any concerns and Mr.Botha is more than happy to see Caroline before the next appointment should it be neccessary.

Overall it was a positive day and although we are a bit taken aback that it take up to a year before things begin to feel normal for Caroline, in terms of eating. Please pray

  1. Continued build up of stamina and strength.
  2. Caroline to continue to discover "good " foods that she can eat and will give her the calories that she needs.
  3. Decrease in the indigestion and heartburn that she is feeling at this time.
