I saw Caroline early on last night and she looked really well, she managed to climb up and down a flight of stairs and have a hair wash (the first for 10 days!). She is still expressing times of discomfort and also heartburn.

During the night she had a bout of diarrhea, which can happen after the kind of surgery Caroline has had . The medical team are concerned about how much her digestive system is coping with the small amounts of food she is taking. At this moment she is taking food through her mouth (soft and liquid) as well as a food drip, which is still on 10ml per hour. She needs to increase her calorie intake. Because of these concerns they are reviewing her discharge date from hospital, so it might not be Tuesday next week.

We are still happy with the care she is recieving and whilst it is disappointing not having Caroline at home, at least we know the the hospital are not trying get her out in an unseemly and hasty fashion and really want her to be ready for home.
