Post consultation meeting
Thank you all for your prayers for last Friday, I had a very indepth meeting with my consultant and dietician. They were both very concerned at the amount and continuing speed of my weight loss which should not be like this 4 months after the op. They felt it was time to take further action.
On the 27th June I am booked in for an emergency endoscopy to see if there is a narrowing of the tubes and if this is causing a constriction to food going down. If this is the case, in the same procedure they can stretch the tube and soon after we should see a fairly speedy change. They are reasonably sure that this is the problem and I am holding onto the fact that this will work. Otherwise it could be a 3 week stay at hospital with a food drip. This is not pleasant, and I am not going to look that far ahead.
They have also done liver and kidney function tests and calcium and iron tests aswell to see if there are any other problems due to lack of nutrition. As I say, they have been very thorough and taking it very seriously, I really felt my concerns had been heard and the dietician was really helpful and supportive, I have to keep in contact with her regularly from now on, which is not difficult because she is lovely. I have also been given the mandate to forget the balance of food and get as much ice cream, cream, full fat yoghurts, chocolate, cheese...I think you get the picture, in me as I can to build up the calories!!!
Please pray for the 27th that this will turn out to be the cause and can be corrected.
Thank you all for your continued support in many ways.
