Over the last 2 months, Caroline has been losing a lot of weight and always feeling full. A couple of weeks ago she went to the doctor and was referred to King's Hospital in London.

At King's she had a gastric and they found she had polyps in her stomach. They took two biopsies. On Wednesday18th January 2006, she was told that they had found cancer cells in the biopsies. You can imagine the horror of those words "cancer" and all the scenerios that were playing in our minds and hearts. Last Friday Caroline had a CT scan and today we saw the consultant to discover what the outcomes could be.

We decided that we could not tell anyone, until we knew the full picture ourselves. Hence this email.

Today we found out that they had discovered the cancer in its early stages, The cancer has not spread to the liver or nymph glands. The prognosis is really good and Caroline will need to have an operation to remove her stomach and perhaps have some chemotherapy. This may sound terrible, but to us it is a relief and a joy. It is hoped that the operation, at St.Thomas' Hospital, London, will happen in the next 2-4 weeks, depending on what the surgeons say about chemotherapy.

The last couple of days have been very difficult and also very special. We have been acutely aware of the love that surrounds us, in each other, our family and friends and God. This has caused us to give thanks for God's grace. We are amazed that God has sustained us during this time.

We will be talking to Nathan and Bethany today and telling them that mummy is ill and will need an operation. We will then leave it to them to ask further questions and we will endeavour to be as honest as possible.

Do please pray for us especially for the following points.

  1. Pray that a further CT Scan will happen asap.
  2. Meeting with the surgeon at St.Thomas. That everything will go ahead smoothly.
  3. For strength and hope in Caroline that she will be able to cope with all that will happen to her in the coming months.
  4. For Nathan and Bethany, that will understand and feel secure

We will keep this blog updated with what is happening and we want to thank you all in advance for all your love and prayers.
